NEWS: EXTENDED UNTIL April 07, 2026
Leave your body like a Shell
The exhibition by Berlin-based artist Johanna Keimeyer at rk – Gallery for Contemporary Art has been extended until April 7, 2026 and expanded.
The new first room presents the installation HIDDEN QUESTIONS alongside works from ICONIC PORTRAITS and underwater photography POOL AROUND ME. These works explore identity, staging, and perception, opening a field between outer image and inner truth. The second room continues to feature the immersive installation LEAVE YOUR BODY LIKE A SHELL as well as the series “Bare Elements – Ice & Fire”.
Keimeyer’s work engages with identity, transformation, and the body as a vessel. In her underwater film, a dialogue unfolds between the physical self and a boundless inner state. The series “Bare Elements – Ice & Fire” presents performative actions within the elements, questioning what lies beneath the surface of perception.
Artist Statement
"My work investigates the body as a shell that never fully expresses our inner world. In the water, bound by breath and gravity, I find a space to explore true freedom of thought and spirit. I explore the raw, unadorned human state within pure nature. The question 'Who am I really?' is at the core of both series." – Johanna Keimeyer
